| Description |
General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. Chevrolet introduced a new body in 1953, although still on the same frame and mechanicals of the 49-52 cars, a one-piece curved windshield replaced the prior twin-pane setup. 1954 saw a mild grille and tail light facelift, indicators now oval. (round in 1953). Models were; The base model was the 150 Special; 2 and 4 door Sedan and Wagon Mid spec was the 210 Deluxe (Stainless Steel window surrounds); 2 door Del Ray Coupe, 2 and 4 door Sedan and Wagon Top was the Bel Air (Stainless Steel body moulds with painted flash); now in 2 door Hardtop Coupe, Convertible, 2 and 4 door Sedan and Wagon. The Corvette sports car was introduced in 1953 Chevrolet sedans were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68. Engine; 115hp 235 cu in 6 cyl blue flame |
