Description

The Plymouth was introduced in 1928, Chryslers lowest priced car. Up to 1960, Plymouths were all one size. In 1960 a new compact car, the A body Valiant was introduced and in 1964, the A body Barracuda Fastback.

In 1965, the Fury was enlarged to become the C body full size car, the Belvedere and Satellite became the B body intermediate size.

The 1964-66 first generation Barracudas had distinctive wraparound back glass, the wheelbase, the hood, headlamp bezels, windshield, vent windows, quarter panels, doors, A-pillar, and bumpers were all Valiant, all other sheet metal and glass was unique to the Barracuda. In 1965, the high performance Formula S was introduced, it got the Commando V8, better suspension and disc brakes. The 66 Barracuda received new taillamps, new front sheet metal, and a new instrument panel, the grille now unique to the Barracuda. Full size cars available in 1965 were the Belvedere and the Fury, The Valiant available in base V100, upmarket V200 and the top of the line Signet.
