Candyapple Red. Fords Pony car, the Mustang was first introduced in April, 1964. The engine bay enlarged in 1967, to fit a big block engine. 1968 was a mild facelift on the 67 car; now with front and rear side markers, the grilles in the quarter behind the door were gone, the bars from the Pony 'Corral' were removed and the steering wheel was changed to an energy absorbing one. Still available in Fastback, Hardtop or Convertible. GT option; (V8, driving lights, side C stripes and disc brakes). Deluxe Interior Package, woodgrain dash and door trims. Other options were air con, upper and lower consoles, turn signal hood, the styled steel wheel option were now a 12 slot design. Two Limited Edition Coupes were available in 1968, the California Special and the High Country Special The Cobra Jet came was a GT with the 428 V8, Ramair hood scoop and black hood stripe. Shelby American built performance versions of the Mustang. For 1968, the 250hp 302 GT350, 355hp 428 GT500 and 410hp 428 Cobra Jet GT500KR (King of the Road) 1968 Engines; 120hp 200 cu in 6 cyl (T code), 200hp 289 V8 (C Code), 230hp and 280hp 302 V8s (J and X Code), 325hp 390 V8 (S Code) and the 355hp and 410hp 428 V8s (P and R Code) |
