Dodge offered four different wheelbases in 1971. The full size C body Dodge was the Polara, Polara Custom, Polara Brougham and Monaco. The mid size B body was the Coronet, in 1971 all Coronets were 4 door Sedans or Wagons, available in base, Coronet Custom and Coronet Brougham. The Charger 2 door Hardtop available in base, 500, R/T and SE. The Super Bee was now on the Charger platform. The Dodge Challenger E body pony, available in base and R/T. The Dart was the A body compact, a name that was used on many cars from Dodge from 1960-76, only from 1963 was the Dart a compact. This is the 1967-76 fourth generation Dart. The Dart was refreshed for 1970 with front and rear changes, then just a facelift for 1971. Models available in 1971 were; The base Dart 4 door Sedan, the Dart Special was the base 2 door Hardtop. The upmarker 2 door Hardtop was the Dart Swinger Like its sister car the Plymouth Duster, the Dodge Demon 2 door Coupe was the performance version of the Dart (last year the Swinger was the performance Dart), it got the 340 cu in V8, hood scoops and blackout hood treatment Engines available in the 1971 Dodge Dart were, 125hp 198 or 145hp 225 six cyl, 230hp 318 and the 275hp 340 Demon. |
