The XY Falcon was built from Oct 1970- March 1972 A mild facelift of the XW Falcon, the XY got a new divided plastic grille and revised tail lights, the 6 cylinder engines were upgraded. The Sedan available in Standard, 500, Futura, Fairmont and GT. The Wagon; Standard, 500 and Fairmont. The Utility in Standard or 500, also 432 4WD utes were made. The Panel Van in just Standard. The Falcon 500 got 2 speed wipers, courtesy lights, carpet. The Futura got a centre arm rest, full door trims and a heater. The Fairmont got bucket seats, console and a woodgrain dash. The GS options package was available on 500, Futura and Fairmont. They got GS stripes, chrome wheel covers, full instrumentation, and rim blow steering wheel The GT got the 351, Fairmont interior, extra instrumentation, sports steering wheel, 4 speed manual, driving lights, black grille, black tail light panel, black bonnet, Shaker scoop and side stripes. Like the 4WD XY utilities, this standard utility was built very late in the XY timeline, it has the high back bench seat and ignition on the column like an XA Falcon.
