| Description |
Built in England from 1971-80, Australia 1972-75. With the British Leyland cars of this time, the Austins were front wheel drive cars and the Morris was rear wheel drive. Available in 1.3, 1.8 or twin carb TC 1.8 Also built by Leyland Australia from CKD kits from the UK, running gear was upgraded for the harsher conditions and a 6 cyl was also available. The Marina saw quite a few grille variations. The 1300 grille got chrome horizontal bars, with a central body coloured divider. Early 1800 grilles involved the painted horizontal body coloured bar. Later, the horizontal bar was filled with little chrome coloured horizontal bars. The 1800 TC - same engine with an extra carb - involved a slightly more elaborate horizontal painted bar, normally painted black, with TC written on it Some Australian and South African assembled cars had a grille with chrome vertical bars. Available in Saloon, Coupe, Pickup and Van. Engines; 1500 and 1750 4 cyl or 2600 6 cyl |
