Deutsch: 29.05.1975 DDR 6800 [07318] Saalfeld, Schloßstraße 24: Schloß (GMP: 50.653644,11.359031). Seit 1677 wurde am Platz des im 12. Jahrhundert zum Kloster umgestalteten Königshofes das Schloß errichtet. Im Nordostflügel schuf 1704-14 Christian Richter die Schloßkapelle. Im Jahre 899 als Curia Salauelda urkundlich genannt, karolingischer Königshof auf dem Petersberg an der Stelle des heutigen Schlosses. Vor 1014 von König Heinrich II. dem Pfalzgrafen Ezzo von Lothringen geschenkt, von dessen Tochter Richeza 1056 dem Erzbistum Köln übereignet. Zwischen 1167 und 1188 von Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa durch Tausch wieder für das Reich erworben. Von 1208 bis 1389 im Besitz der Grafen von Schwarzburg, seit 1389 unter der Herrschaft der Wettiner. Von 1680 bis 1735 Residenz des Herzogtums Sachsen-Saalfeld. 1826 zum Herzogtum Sachsen-Meiningen (bis 1918). Das Schloß dient heute als Verwaltungssitz.
