Description

Midnight Blue. The UK built Mk II Escort was built from 1974-1980, similar mechanically to the Mk I but got a squarer body and new dash. Available in 2 or 4 door saloon, Estate and van. Mainstream models were base, L, GL or luxury Ghia (vinyl roof and wood trim dash). Engines; 47hp 1100, 65hp 1300 and 84hp 1600 Kent 4 cyl The performance models were; Sport, RS Mexico (95hp 1600cc Pinto), RS1800 (115hp 1800cc BDA Cosworth ), RS2000 (110hp 2000 Pinto) Like the Mk I, 2 and 4 door Mk II Escorts were also built in Australia. Unique to Australian were high back seats. Models there were; L, XL (later GL) both with round headlights, upmarket Ghia with square lights. A dressed up van was available from 1978, the Sundowner with dome side windows and stripes. Engines in Oz; 1300 and 1600 Kent (2000 Pinto from 1977) In the UK the Mk II RS2000 was only available as a 2 door, in Australia the 4 door version was available as well.

The RS2000 featured a polyurethane slant nose with quad headlights, rear spoiler, sports suspension, scheel seats, RS sports dash and steering wheel and the 2.0 Pinto 4 cyl engine with 4 speed (auto was an option). In Australia they were available in 5 main colours; Snow White, Lemon Lime, Monza red, Burnt Orange and Midnight Blue.
