The VH Commodore was built from October 1981-Feb 1984 The VH was a major cosmetic update with new bonnet, guards, grille and headlights, the taillights also got a new louvred look In September 1982 Holden introduced its own Sports model, the SS available with either 4.2 or 5.0 V8 There were still no long wheelbase Statesman or Utility versions so the WB Kingswood shape continued on to fill the gap. Four levels of trim were available; SL; 1900 or 2850cc, 4 spd manual, vinyl trim, steel wheels SLX; 3300cc, 3 spd auto, cloth trim, wheel trims. SLE; 4200cc, 3 spd auto, longer tail lights, black tail panel, velour trim, alloy wheels, headlight wipers, 5.0 opt. SS; 4200cc 4 spd manual, cloth trim, SS decals, red or white The Holden Dealer Team, run by Peter Brock, built improved versions of the SS to make money for the race team and homologate parts for racing, they were available in Group 1, 2 or 3 spec (5.0 opt on Group 3) A Wagon was also available in SL or SLX. Engines; 54kw 1900 starfire 4 cyl, 73kw 2850 and 83kw 3300 blue 6 cyls V8s; 100kw 4200 or 126kw 5000 (180kw HDT) |
