1st to 2nd century finger ring
Description
English: An incomplete Roman copper-alloy finger ring. The artefact consists of the bezel and part of the hoop from a Henig type II ring of 1st to 2nd century AD date (Johns, 1996, p. 42). The hoop is roughly semi-circular in section and increases gradually in width towards the sub-oval bezel. The bezel is flat on top and is decorated with a single ring-and-dot indentation at the centre. The hoop measures 26.6mm wide at the point where it is broken off. The bezel is 17.5mm long by 11.6mm wide and 4.4mm thick. The weight is 7.04g.
