Description

Deutsch: 01.05.2004 06268 Vitzenburg (Querfurt): Schloß Vitzenburg. Die Anfänge der Burg liegen in karolingischer und ottonischer Zeit als Kloster. Im Bauernkrieg schwer verwüstet. Von 1574 bis 1587 ließen Nickel und Valten von Lichtenhayn die zum Teil abgebrannte Vorburg wieder aufbauen. 1586/87 erfolgte unter Valten von Lichtenhayn, vermutlich nach Plänen von N. Delitzscher, der Umbau der Burg zum zweiflügeligen Renaissanceschloß. Nach dem Ende des II. Weltkrieges wurde der Grundbesitz der Familie von Münchhausen auf Vitzenburg enteignet und an Neubauern und Landarbeiter aufgeteilt. Das Schloß wurde 1948 "Landwirtschaftsschule Vitzenburg mit angeschlossenem Provinzialschulgut". 1969 wurde das Schloß zum Fachkrankenhaus für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie umgebaut, aber 1996 wieder geschlossen. Im selben Jahr kaufte es ein Architekt von der Treuhandanstalt für eine Deutsche Mark. Im Bild: Sicht von außen aus Südwesten zu ehem. Wirtschaftsgebäuden (GMP: 51.299170,11.567540).
