Description
Deutsch: 15.04.2011 04769 Mügeln: Stadtkirche, Pfarrkirche St. Johannis (GMP: 51.237243,13.047326). Sie wurde 1373 zum ersten Mal genannt. Über diesen mittelalterlichen Vorgängerbau ist jedoch nichts bekannt. Die heutige dreischiffige spätgotische Hallenkirche entstand Anfang 16. Jahrhundert. Unter maßgeblicher Beteiligung des Bischofs Johannes VI. von Saalhausen (1444-1518) wurde sie Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts begonnen und - wie die Jahreszahlen auf den Schlusssteinen des Gewölbes verraten - zwischen 1510 und 1521 eingewölbt. Das Portal der südlichen Vorhalle von 1510 ist mit einem kunstvoll geschmiedeten und aufwendig vergoldeten Gitter verschlossen, das 1648 der Amtsschösser Abraham Grundmann stiftete.
