Description
Deutsch: 20.03.2019 01067 Dresden-Friedrichstadt / Ostragehege, Messering: Dresdens Stadtbaumeister Hans Erlwein hatte den ehedem modernsten und größten deutschen Vieh- und Schlachthof (GMP: 51.070045,13.715547) von 1902 - 1910 auf dem Gelände des Ostrageheges errichtet. Viele der historischen Gebäude wurden bis 1999 zur MESSE DRESDEN umgebaut. Blick über den Vorplatz mit dem Stierbrunnen (GMP: 51.068848,13.716670) nach Nordosten, überragt vom alten Heizhaus, dem „Schweinedom“ (GMP: 51.069753,13.718234). "Ostra" kommt aus dem Slawischen, bedeutet so viel wie "stromumflossene Insel" und geht zurück auf das Dorf Ostrov, das im Mittelalter dem Bischof von Meißen gehörte. Die erste urkundliche Nennung 1206 fällt zusammen mit der ersten Nennung Dresdens. 1568 löste Kurfürst August das Dorf auf, um an dessen Stelle ein Vorwerk zur Versorgung des Hofes und der Festung Dresdens zu gründen.
