| Description |
English: View from the west of the grounds of the country house La Grande Suisse in Maastricht-Mariënwaard, the Netherlands. The house was built around 1735 and enlarged with two towers around 1865. From 1875 until 1954 it was used as a Franciscan nunnery and boarding school for girls. In 2018 plans were approved to renovate the derelict building for use as a crematorium. At the time, little remained of the extensive gardens which partly had been taken up by an institution and school for children with special needs. Several pavilions from the 1960s or 70s have been demolished, as seen here. |
