Description
Deutsch: 10.09.2020 01920 Brauna (Kamenz), Königsbrücker Straße 17: Schloß Brauna (GMP: 51.279454,14.038222). Den Grundstein dafür hatte Sophie Charlotte Eleonore Gräfin zu Stolberg-Stolberg, geborene Gräfin von Redern gelegt. Die Bausubstanz stammt aus dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert. Wolf Georg von Schönberg, der 1706 starb, scheint den Neubau des Schlosses veranlasst zu haben. Unter Gräfin Sophie Charlotte Eleonore zu Stolberg-Stolberg wurde 1821 auf der Hofseite ein Dreiecksgiebel hinzugefügt. 1835 errichtet man die an das Schloß angefügte katholische Kapelle. 1868 wurde auf der Hofseite ein Vorbau mit Balkon angefügt und die Kutschenvorfahrt angelegt. Die Herrschaft der Grafen zu Stolberg-Stolberg endete 1945. Im Schloß wurde zunächst ein Jugendwerkhof eingerichtet. Es folgte ein Kinderheim, benannt nach Ernst Thälmann, dem im Park ein granitenes Monument gesetzt wurde. Die Schloßkapelle wurde 1945 der katholischen Kirche übergeben.
