中国第一所由华侨创办的高校——厦门大学，4月6日举行建校100周年庆祝大会，厦大师生和海内外校友以线上线下同步展开的方式相聚母校和云端，共贺百年华诞，见证这一激动人心的历史时刻。 1921年4月6日，厦大由著名爱国侨领陈嘉庚倾资创办。作为后裔代表，陈嘉庚长孙陈立人当天莅临厦大100周年庆祝大会，当厦大党委书记张彦介绍在主席台前就坐的陈立人时，现场响起了长达20余秒的热烈掌声。 从1894年，陈嘉庚拿出2000银元在家乡集美办学以来，他一生兴学时间长达67年，创办近120所学校，陈立人在校庆大会上致辞时回忆祖父创办厦门大学的艰难历程。1921年，陈嘉庚认捐400万银元办厦大。陈立人表示，这个数目相当于祖父当年的全部资产，厦门大学是陈嘉庚倾注了最多心血，也是抱有极大希望的一所学校。 历经百年艰辛奋斗，厦大培养了40多万名优秀学生，为国家各行各业输送了一批又一批高素质人才，形成化学、海洋科学、生物学、生态学和统计学等高水平学科，成为在海内外影响力日益增强的知名学府。 厦门大学校长张荣在大会致辞时表示，厦门大学的百年史就是一部兴学图强的爱国史、自强不息的奋斗史。与中国许多双一流大学相较，厦大不在直辖市或省会城市办学，实为不多见。但地处福建和厦门的特殊区位，也赋予厦大“海峡、海丝、海洋”的“三海”特色地缘优势。 |
