Memorandum and guidance on the implementation of the first Juneteenth holiday on June 19, 2021

Description
English: The law creating the Juneteenth holiday is not very long. It reads:

Section 6103(a) of title 5, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to Memorial Day the following:

“ Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19.”. [sic.]

This memorandum addresses the implementation of this holiday. Given that President Biden signed the legislation on, Thursday, June 17th, 2021, and the holiday the first observance was just two days later on Saturday, June 19th it is likely a lot of people welcomed this guidance.

NB: this memorandum specifically states:

the "guidance pertains specifically to the implementation of the Juneteenth holiday on June 19, 2021 [emphasis added]"
