NOTE: This image is a focus stacked image of "Fujinon GF 30mm F5.6 T/S lens" consisting of 41 images that were merged using Zerene Stacker Version 1.04 Build T2023-06-11-1120 (licensed). As a result, this image underwent digital manipulation which may have included blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different than reality at the points where the images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.

Additional Information

[edit]

en: Fujinon GF 30mm F5.6 T/S lens.

  • This is a medium format tilt-shift lens.
  • The lens is depicted in vertical position with both front and rear caps attached.
Move mouse pointer over image to view the relative positions of each component.
  • The knobs and scales for tilt (at centre right) and shift (at lower left) control are clearly visible in this image. Both are currently set to zero position.
  • Tilt and shift mechanisms:
    • The tilt mechanism (nearer to the front lens) allows an angular movement of up to ±8.5°.
    • The shift mechanism allows a sideway movement of up to ±15 mm.
  • This lens is equipped with two mechanical levers that control rotation (press lever towards camera body to enable function):
    • Lever that enables rotation of tilt element (hidden at rear): allows rotating the tilt component of the lens by 90° in relation to shift component.
    • Lever at lower right that allows rotating the whole lens by ±90° versus the default landscape position.
  • Locking elements (all positioned on the two counterfaces invisible in this image):
    • Both tilt and shift components possess opposing, smaller knobs that operate locking screws which both increase friction and secure the chosen tilt and/or shift positions.
    • The tilt component possesses an extra slider lock that retains the lens incline to its zero position.
  • The lens may be attached to a Fujifilm GFX medium format body via its Fujifilm G-mount.
    • Both tilt and shift data are automatically transferred to the camera and are stored in EXIF data; this, though, requires a recent Fujifilm GFX100 (II) / GFX100S (II) camera model and, possibly, a software update to the camera.
  • Image taken in Aplerbeck, Dortmund, Germany in November 2023.
  • High resolution focus stack composed of 41 images taken with the Fujifilm GFX100S automated focus stacking function.

Technical Details / Making of this Image

[edit]
  • Extended colour rendering: This is a true ProPhoto RGB colour space image. All editing has proceeded on a 16-bit basis, based on the original 14-bit RAW file. The JPEG file format definition does allow a 16-bit colour space, but only the 8-bit variant has ever been realised in available image rendering software. Thus this image must be saved as an 8-bit JPG file, nevertheless retaining the ProPhoto RGB colour space.
If, as opposed to most modern equipment, either your computer or your screen's colour rendering hard-/software does not support 8-bit ProPhoto RGB JPEGs (i.e. supports only JPEGs based on the sRGB colour space), this image may appear somewhat dull both in colour and tone spectrum.
