Description
English: Copper alloy Book clasp, length 29mm, width 12mm, thickness 2mm, weight 1.02g. This example is rectangular in plan, there is some linear decoration on the forward end but this has been obscured buy corrosion. A rectangular hook on the forward edge, the rear is expanded, there is a single rivet hole at the rear.

This artefact is heavily corroded.

Artefacts such as this have been discovered during excavation to predominately date to the 15th and 16th centuries such as the examples found in York (Ottaway & Rogers, 2002, 2937-2939)
