Description

202.377 seen at Stapelburg on 29 May 1992.

At the time of this visit, the line was opened only for passenger traffic to here having been severed over the East-West German border for passenger traffic in 1945. Freight traffic however remained over the border until 1973. Earlier in 1961, passenger traffic was halted at Ilsenburg, being re-opened back again in 1989 soon after reunification. In 1995 the section from Ilsenburg to Stapelburg was temporarily closed for 14 months to allow rebuilding of a new line to Vienenburg.
