2920 Lead alloy vesica seal matrix
Description
English: Lead alloy vesica seal matrix length 24mm, width 19mm, thickness 18.5mm, weight 8.67g. The first lat third of seal matrix is missing, the edge is straight suggesting the it was cut. The face is undecorated, the reverse has a fleur-de-lis with a plain rectangular lug at one end that once pierced could be used as a suspension loop. This is most likely a blank seal matrix that has not has the inscription etc added. Date 13th-14th century
