Text[edit]

2 Youths Held In Theft. North Bellport Young Men Accused of Robbing Duryea Home. Patchogue, New York; October 30, 1933. The theft of a large quantity of groceries and foodstuffs, from the home of Mrs. Annie Duryea of North Bellport, late last week was cleared up yesterday when Deputy Sheriffs Walter Raynor and John E. Davis arrested William Smith, 21, and Jerry Smith, 18, both of North Bellport. Mrs. Duryea's house had been broken into while she was out and had been thoroughly ransacked. Raynor was assigned to the case and after obtaining sufficient evidence to warrant an arrest he called in Davis and they took the two young men into custody. The prisoners were brought here and arraigned before Justice Marchant on charges of third degree burglary. They waived examination and were taken to the county jail in Riverhead to await the action of the Grand Jury.
