Description
English: 330-PS-9292 (428-GX-USN 710316): Navy Buys New Target Drone, November 1958. The U.S. Navy has awarded Beech Aircraft Corporation a $8,700,000 contract for production of the remote-controlled target aircraft. Designated the KDB-1, the drone will be used for surface-to-air and air-to-air weapon systems evaluation and training, including missile firing missions. Powered by a 320 HP McCulloch Engine, manufactured by the McCulloch Corporation, Los Angeles, California. The KDB-1 can attain a speed of 300 knots and reach altitudes in excess of 40,000 feet. Deliveres of the 600 pound Navy target will begin in May 1959 and extend through May 1960. (10/21/2014).
