Description
English: 330-PS-9638 (111-SC-161007 AC): This is a recently developed strap-on seat designed to carry a 4 to 6 pound monkey into space. Seat was designed by U.S. Air Force School of Aviation Medicine scientists at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, where experiments are currently underway with monkeys. Seat and related equipment, plus monkey, will make up a 100 pound payload. Monkey space travel is expected to give scientists valuable basic data which will contribute toward ultimate spaceflight by man. All experiments are conducted under American Medical Association rules for humane treatment of animals. Photograph released February 20, 1959. (10/21/2014).
