Title
39: medieval ceramic vessel rim shard
Description
English: A rim sherd from a medieval ceramic vessel. The sherd is 75.4mm long, 35.2mm wide and the wall is 3.7mm thick. It weighs 37g. The fabric is pale grey with an orange outside and purple inside. The fabric has frequent poorly sorted light coloured grains (quartz?) and a few dark and red grains (grog or rock?). It is hard and irregular with a pimply surface. This pottery is probably in the Northern Gritty Ware tradition. The rim radius is about 125mm.
