Description |
English: A cast copper-alloy medieval harness mount complete with the suspension mount dating to circa 13th-14th century. The pendant is quatrefoil in form with a centrally placed shield with a fleur-de -lis in each lobe. The shield details are unclear due to corrosion but the lower image appears crown like, with red enamel within the field. The four fleurs-de-lis are set in a field of blue enamel. The rounded suspension mount is secured to the pendant by a probable iron rivet which has iron staining evident. The attachment pin is rounded with slight burring to the end.The back has evidence of spillage from the red enamel during manufacture. There are several places where tinning is evident especialy around the hinged joint. The pendant has a grey/black patina. Dimensions are: length 38 mm. Width 18.5 mm. Thickness 4 mm. Weight 6.606 grams. |
