84B265. Medieval single loop buckle with ornate outside edge and separate plate.
Description
English: Copper alloy buckle frame and separate sheet metal plate. The buckle frame is oval with an expanded outside edge. The bar is off-set from the frame. The separate plate is recessed for the frame and has a central slot for the pin. The plate is attacehd by folding it over the bar. It was secured by two large rivets at the distal end (one rivet with a slightly convex head survives). There are traces of gilding on the front of the plate around the rivet holes.
