Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Instrument of the scientific satellite Advanced Composition Explorer. The Solar Wind Ion Mass Spectrometer

(SWIMS) is a versatile instrument that provides solar wind composition data for all solar wind conditions. It clearly determines, every few minutes, the quantities of most of the elements and a wide range of isotopes in the solar wind. The abundances of rare isotopes are determined every few hours, providing information crucial to the understanding of pickup ions and ACRs (described later). SWIMS is extending knowledge of solar wind composition to additional elements and

isotopes.
