Title
ANNULAR BROOCH
Description
English:

A fragment of a copper-alloy medieval annular brooch, dating to the period AD 1270-1350. Only half the frame remains, and the pin has since been lost. The frame measures 42.55mm in diameter, with a general thickness of 3.29mm except for the decoration, which extends to 12.57mm thickness. All that remains of the decoration on the frame is one flower and a broadly lozenge shape, incised with a further lozenge, divided into quarters. The flower has been incised, divided equally into five "petals". There is no further discernible decoration. In total, this fragment weighs 3.81g.

A similar brooch to this can be seen in Egan and Pritchard's (1991) Dress Accessories, p253, no.1327.
