Nederlands: ATA (B/P) - L.C. Vervooren & Co., Rotterdam
De ATA (Ateliers Teixeira Automobiles) werd in België opgericht door de Portugese broers Henrique en Alberto Dias Teixeira. Zij wilden een stevige auto bouwen voor gebruik in de Portugese koloniën en in Brazilië, maar vonden in Portugal geen mogelijkheden om een dergelijke autofabriek op te zetten. Vandaar dat zij uitweken naar België en een fabriek bouwden in Trooz, nabij Luik. In 1914 werd het eerste model, een ATA Type B 16 HP, gepresenteerd op de Salon van Porto in Portugal. De Eerste Wereldoorlog gooide roet in het eten en de productie werd gestaakt nadat er ongeveer 25 auto's waren gebouwd. In 1919 werd het merk door de Nederlander Mathieu van Roggen, die fabrieksmanager was van ATA, ondergebracht bij Imperia. De advertentie links dateert van november 1920 en betreft waarschijnlijk nog onverkochte voorraad uit 1919. Niet bekend is of er daadwerkelijk ATA-chassis in Nederland zijn verkocht. |
