Funchal, Madeira meant two things to the crew members who were able to get off the ship, cellphone access and the CR7 museum. In case you're not a soccer (football) fan the CR7 museum is the shrine to Cristiano Ronaldo, the soccer (football) superstar. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro GOIH ComM (Portuguese pronunciation: [kɾiʃˈtjɐnu ʁɔˈnaɫdu]; born 5 February 1985) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains the Portugal national team. He is currently a free agent. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo has won five Ballon d'Or awards[note 3] and four European Golden Shoes, the most by a European player. They were snapping shots furiously, probably to share with family and friends back home. For these guys this just might have been the highlight of the trip and I'm glad they got to see it. In case you're wondering we didn't go in, they were charging admission and this guy's got enough money as it is. I do wish I'd had thought about slapping on my Nifty Fifty for a couple of shots, I think it would have done a nice job. If you're a soccer (football) fan on a cruise and happen to stop in Madeira the museum is real close to where the ships dock. An easy walk as long as you're ambulatory and somewhat fit. |
