A Post Medieval lead alloy toy fire shovel (17th – 18th century).
Description
English: A Post Medieval lead alloy toy fire shovel (17th – 18th century). This toy was cast in one piece with a bell-shaped flaring pan. There are two decorative ears or knops on either side of the handle scar. The rim is beaded and the flat base decorated with a rococo style arrangement of rosettes, foliate tendrils and flowering plants.

This example is very similar to no 5.16 in Forsyth & Egan (2005:188) that is dated to the 1730s and described as Type 2 Design 2.

Dimensions: length: 36.75mm; width: 29.42mm; thickness: 0.98mm; weight: 4.39g.
