Title
A complete Iron Age cast copper-alloy unit of 'Flat Linear' Potin of Cantiaci dating to c.115 - 100 B.C.
Description
English: A worn but complete cast copper-alloy Iron Age Flat Linear potin of the Cantiaci, c.115-100 BC, of Holman type B2/2-1 (D. Holman, pers. comm.). The obverse depicts a stylised head of Apollo left. The reverse has a bull butting right with exergual line below, two(?) crescents above. The remains of a casting sprue are visible on one edge, and there is a circular perforation towards the base of the potin when viewed from the obverse, which is likely to be the result of manufacture or the casting process although a deliberate and later perforation cannot be ruled out entirely.

As Holman, 2016 ('A new classification system for the Flat Linear potin coinage', BNJ 86, 2016: pp. 1-67): pp. 24-25, 44, 56, Type B2/2-1, possibly dating to c.115-100 BC (Holman, 2016: p. 11).
