Title |
A fragment of a Post Medieval cast copper alloy trapezoidal buckle |
||
Description |
English: A fragment of a Post Medieval cast copper alloy trapezoidal buckle. The fragment is probably from a trapezoidal double-looped buckle frame. The fragment has a trapezoidal plan, a flat face and a sub-rectangular cross-section. At the centre of the outside edge the frame extends into a point. The angle of the frame’s upper side means the inner edge of the frame is sharply squared. The lower side of the frame, strap bar and pin are missing. The buckle has a uniform brown-red colour with patches of green patina. It is 17.7mm long, 18.1mm wide and is 1.9mm thick. It weighs 1.5 grams. A similar buckle, complete, is illustrated in Whitehead (2003) p. 82, ref. 513 and is dated to 1620-1680. |
