Title
A fragment of a Roman copper alloy group one hair pin, dates to the 1st to 4th centuries A.D.
Description
English: The Pin head from a group one style of pin. The copper alloy object is spherical apart from the small remaining part of the shank that is still present. It is difficult to assign a sub group, as the shank of the pin is missing. However, it would have to belong to either sub group C or E. Type C is in use through out the Roman period and Type E is bot found in any dated contexts, although comparisons with similar shanks found in East Anglia may date this group to the first two centuries (Cool, 1990; 151 - 154). Given this it would be prudent to simply date the pin head as Roman.
