Title
a post medieval spherical bell
Description
English: A cast, copper alloy spherical bell of the post-medieval period, dating from 1600-1750. It has the usual two circular piercings in the upper hemisphere and two in the lower hemisphere connected by a narrow slot. The suspension loop is square and somewhat crudely cast, being set at an angle to the surface of the bell and pierced with a hole that is almost square. The striker remains in place. The bell has a patchy, dark green patina. It is 26.9mm in diameter and 35.5mm high. It weighs 22.62gm. Similar bells are illustrated in Bailey, Detector Finds, page 44.
