Title |
A single view of a Post Medieval buckle. |
||
Description |
English: The object is a double-looped sub-rectangular buckle frame. The frame is a double loop type, which is sub-rectangular with obliquely angled corners in plan. The terminals of the strap bar are expanded slightly in width. The strap bar is narrowed and is trapezoidal in section. The surface of the buckle frame is corroded and has lost its original surface. The buckle measures 31.77mm long and 20.13mm wide. It weighs 2.8g.
Whitehead (Whitehead, R. 1996 Buckles 1250 to 1800 Greenlight Publishing.) illustrates similar shaped and decorated examples, for example No. 443 which dates to the 17th century. |
