| Description |
Dansk: Drikkehorn med forgyldt randbeslag af sølv. Kaldet "Absalons horn". Her næroptagelse af våbenskjolde på hornet. Horn af europæisk bison/urokse. Længde: 77,2 cm. Højde: -- (ikke mulig på grund af manglende fodbeslag). Diameter: 15,5 cm. Randbeslag: 5,5 cm. Der er ingen dekorationer på randbeslaget, men derimod findes på hornets ene side en gravering fra begyndelsen af 16. århundrede med våbenskjoldet tilhørende familien Tornekrans. Under randbeslaget er påsat et fint emaljeret våbenskjold (omkring 1400), der viser en abbed i en stiliseret have. Der er spor efter et nu bortkommet beslag på hornets spids, men på en ældre tegning fra 1696 af "Absalons ting" (Sorø), ses at der har været en knop på dette horns spids engang. Drikkehornet stammer fra det 14. århundredes cisterianerkloster i Sorø. At hornet skulle have tilhørt Absalon (d. 1201) kan muligvis tilskrives den sidste katolske abbed, Henrik Tornekrans. Hornet er desuden nævnt i det kongelige Kunstkammers samlinger i 1696 |
