Description

Acanthurus coeruleus Bloch & Schneider, 1801 - blue tang at a patch reef. (photo by Scott Bair)

Blue tangs are a type of doctorfish that range from pale blue to dark blue to black with dark blue peripheries.

The brownish-colored corals are Montastraea annularis boulder star corals.

Classification: Animalia, Chordata, Vertebrata, Actinopterygii, Perciformes, Acanthuridae

Locality: patch reef offshore from San Salvador Island, eastern Bahamas
