Description

The hourglass shape of this earthenware drug jar is typical of the albarello design. The base is a 16-sided polygon. The ceramic jar is glazed with brown decoration on a cream background. The jar would have been used to hold ingredients for preparations or the actual finished product. It is thought that this jar was made in Persia (modern day Iran) in a town called Racca on the banks of the River Euphrates.
