Title
Portrait of a lady - Presumed Portrait of Bianca Cappello at the age of 32 years
Description
English: "As in most portraits of Allori, one is struck by the coldness almost "glazed" of the subject and the artificial tone of light.

But the mastery of the relief offers realistic modeling and presence about. The Grand Duchess is wearing a black damask velvet dress with golden stripes in silk sleeves. The flexible neck in fine lace and hairdressing allow precise dating our painting around 1580. A few years later, around 1585, the painter Scipione Pulzone realize a portrait of Bianca Cappello (in the collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna). The Grand Duchess of Tuscany arises here as a tribute to Bronzino (the master of Allori), before a cobalt blue background. We find these bruises on famous portraits of Eleonora of Toledo, Giulia de Medici or small Bia de Medici.

Our painting is sold in its Tuscan setting of carved wood and original gilt decorated with scrolls and foliage. On the back, an inventory number and an old label allocation to Bronzino."
