Золото, камни драгоценные, жемчуг речной дерево, стекло, шелк, левкас Темпера яичная, чеканка, чернь, канфарение Высота 48,3 см. Ширина 14,5 см.

Мерная икона царя Алексея Михайловича связана с особой древней традицией в царской семье. В соответствие с ней, когда в царской семье рождался сын в, меру его роста писалась икона с изображением святого его небесного покровителя. Патроном царя Алексея Михайловича, отца Петра I, был святой Алексей, живший в IV веке в Римской империи и прославившийся своей благочестивой жизнью в посте и молитвах.
