English:
Former Szenes Tenement Building (aka Szenes Palace) Three storey building with two balconies on first storey and one on second storey/3rd floor. Built in 1882 and 1884. Architect: Rezső Ray. Built to spicey (and other food) trader Ede (Köhler) Szenes. In 1898 Emil Gerbaud (confectioner, chocolate factory owner) opened here the 'Művész' (Artist) Café (its late Biedermeier Neo-Baroque furniture and interior since 1973 listed monument as 'applied art'). The roof/loft part usedas art mostly photo studio (for example Royal and Imperial photographer Péter Kalmar) In 1942 opened here, on groundfloor, the Balatoni Iroda (~Balaton Office) travel agency specialized to Lake Balaton Tours. Two of the leaders of Hungarian anti fascist resistance, colonel Jenő Nagy and captain Vilmos Tartsay arrestedby Gestapo here (plaque on facade), in the house 'siege' died lieutenant János Messik and ensign Count Pál Széchenyi von felső-sárvidék. - 29 Andrássy Avenue, District VI of Budapest.
