Title
Anglo-Scandinavian winchester style strap end
Description
English: Cast copper alloy openwork strap end in Winchester style. The strap end is tongue shaped and has a split rectangular terminal with two rivet holes in it to secure it to the strap. The body of the strap end is decorated with an elaborate symmetrical zoomorphic net, probably comprising four beasts on either side shown in profile. The top two beasts are shown elongated with claws outstretched that are each depicted by a narrow series of grooves. The two beasts below are depicted in similar ways and are slightly larger. The design is repeated on the other side.
