Title
annular double-loop rose buckle
Description
English: Cast copper alloy double-loop annular buckle frame with moulded floral decoration in the form of a five-petalled flower. There are the remains of lateral moulded lines on each edge of the petals, which probably frame multiple incised transverse lines, but the surface of the frame is too worn and corroded to be sure. The strap bar is flush with the frame and narrowed and distorted. The pin is missing. The frame is 39.4 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness. The strap bar is 24 mm in length and 2.5 mm in thickness.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 47, No.272, which is dated to c.1450-1550.
