Ansate brooch
Description
English: A copper alloy ansate brooch dating from the 8th - 9th centuries. It has a rectangular bow with a rounded flat disc at each end. Each disc is decorated with an incised cross with a notch in each angles apart from where the bow originates. The bow is also decorated with three incised crosses. The pin is missing but the two pin lugs and the catchplate survive. It has a length of 41.48mm, width 6.26mm, thickness 1.76mm, weight 7.95g.
