Description A antiga chaminé encontra-se instalada no local onde em 1865 a empresa inglesa The Vallongo Slates & Marbles Quarries Company, Limited, deu início à exploração industrial intensiva de extração de lousa. A mina do Galinheiro foi a primeira pedreira a utilizar tecnologia de ponta para a época, como a máquina a vapor e sistemas de pequenas vias férreas para o transporte de pedra. Do complexo mineiro do Galinheiro faziam parte outras infraestruturas de apoio, das quais a chaminé é um dos seus últimos vestígios.
