DescriptionAntony Gormley Jerwood 02.jpg |
Jerwood Sculpture collection. Ragley Hall. Warwickshire. 1998 Iron 1.86 m high. Insider VIII is one in a series of fourteen works made between 1996 and 1999 in which Antony Gormley experimented with using a mathematical process to reduce body mass by two thirds to reveal an inner core. His "Insiders" carry in concentrated form, the trace of the body and it's passage through life. The material used for these works is iron, the base element found at the earth's core, and the artist has likened his "Insiders" to being cooled and revealed magnetic lead cores of the body. I couldn't help comparing him with his Aussie cousin out there on Lake Ballard "Inside Australia" Lake Ballard WA |
