Икона «Явление Богоматери св. Андрею Боголюбскому»

Слева на иконе изображена Богоматерь в рост вполоборота к центру со свитком в правой руке. Справа лицом к Богоматери – стоящий на коленях князь Андрей Боголюбский в мантии, подбитой горностаем. Позади него – панорама Боголюбского монастыря за белокаменной крепостной стеной, с высокой колокольней и пятикупольным храмом. Вверху справа – образ благословляющего Спаса. Выше – Деисус из пяти икон.

В «Житии кн. Андрея Боголюбского» с XVIII в. и «Летописи Боголюбского монастыря» содержится сказание о явлении Богоматери князю Андрею во время переноса иконы Владимирской Богоматери, когда повозка остановилась и Богоматерь повелела поставить икону во Владимире, а на месте ее явления поставить храм и монастырь. По заказу Андрея Боголюбского была написана икона с образом явившейся Богоматери со свитком в руке, установлен в честь события праздник, основан Боголюбский монастырь. Иконы с изображением на фоне Боголюбского монастыря князя Андрея, стоящего на коленях перед Богоматерью, распространяются с XVIII в. Вверху на многих памятниках сохраняется пятифигурный Деисус, который был на походных иконах князя.
