Description
English:
Two storey, three facades, listed corner building. Part of three cultural heritage ensembles. Built in 1897 as a one storey residential, community? café building to János Kass. Planned by Antal Steinhardt. Here was eight rooms flat of János Kass. Till 1920s here was Lloyd Association (pre Chamber of Commerce) event venue? and office. Built with arcades on Arany Street side. The courtyard was covered with iron glass roof based plans of the structural office of Schlick's iron foundry and machine factory in 1899. In 1911 on Stefánia side a cellar was established with a cast slab designed by István Kopasz. Remodelled to hotel designed by architect Lipót Baumhorn and executed by János Kopasz in 1916. In 1952 the cellar and basement were remodeled according to the plans of József Barna. In 1977 the hotel was closed. The South Hungarian Building and Civil Engineering Company (DÉLÉP) bought it to transform the restaurant part into a community centre and the hotel into a guest house. Then it is owned by Hungária Rt. as Hungária Hotel. Since 1997, it has been owned by the Quaestor Group, which went bankrupt in 2015. Magasföldszint + egyemeletes, tetőtér-beépítéses, három homlokzatos tömbépület. Déli oldalon, a földszinten kávéház, öntöttvas oszlopokkal, fölötte bálterem a kupola alatt. - Kass János egyemeletes lak- bér- közösségi-? és kávéházának épült. 1897-ben Steinhardt Antal tervei alapján különleges Mátrai-féle vasbeton födémrengéscsillapított mennyezetekkel építették. Itt volt Kass nyolcszobás lakása a kávéház és Szegedi Lloyd Társaság a helyi kereskedők érdekvédelmi szervezete (pre kereskedelmi kamara) és az Otthon Társaság székhelye. 1916-ban Baumhorn Lipót tervei alapján s Vigadót szállodává építették át. Az Arany János utcára mint városi területre kiszökellő árkádot is engedélyezték, mert az épület díszére vált. 1899-ben az udvart vasszerkezetű kettős üvegtetővel fedték le a Schlick-féle vasöntöde és gépgyár r. t. szerkezeti irodájának tervei alapján. 1911-ben a Stefánia felőli oldalon, Kopasz István tervezte öntött födémmel pincét létesítettek. 1952-ben a pincében és az alagsorban végeztek átalakítást Barna József tervei szerint. 1977-ben a hotelt bezárták. A Dél-Magyarországi Magas- és Mélyépítő Vállalat (DÉLÉP) megvásárolta, hogy az éttermi részt művelődési otthonná, a szállodát vendégházzá alakítsa át.
